What Does “Sike” Mean in English?

“Sike” (sometimes spelled “psych”) is a popular slang word in American English. It is used to show that the speaker was joking or tricking someone and that what they just said is not true.

People usually say “sike” right after making a false statement to reveal it was a joke.

Examples:

I won the lottery… sike!

(Meaning: I was joking.)

We don’t have homework today — sike!

“Sike” is mostly used in informal conversations among friends. It can sound playful, but using it too often may seem childish or annoying.
